Gillette’s Chet Champions Canada

Bronc rider Chet Johnson from Gillette, WY is riding high after winning the Canadian Finals Rodeo, Nov. 11-15, with a final round 86 on the Canadian version of Miss Congeniality. Johnson won $32,500 over the five-day event to bring his season total in Canada to $54K – making him the number one man. It was a very close finals for bronc riders in Edmonton,AB. Johnson beat out all of his Canadian competitors in terms of money won throughout the year and is the only American to carry away a Canadian champ’s buckle and bronze in 2009. The Canadian Miss C threw Chet off very early at the finals in Edmonton last year. The arena is usually devoted to professional hockey’s Edmonton Oilers and the house was packed for the rodeo each performance.

We spoke with Chet just an hour ago and he is still, understandably, on Cloud Nine:

Chet will return to the U.S. tomorrow and has to undergo a minor medical procedure in Fort Collins, CO on Thursday.
